Google Android As A Smartphone OS: The Features
The Android Operating System was designed for smartphones and tablet Computers. The developer was the Open handset alliance, which is actually run by the mega search engine Google. The Android was purchased by Google back in 2005 but the announcement wasn't made until November 5, 2007. There have been 5 different versions of the Android Operating System since the start of the year 2011. The very first version was called 2.3 Gingerbread, followed by 3.0 Honeycomb, then Honeycomb versions 3.1 and 3.2 soon followed and lastly the 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich was created. 2.3 Gingerbread: This version has a refined user interface, the keyboard was improved and a copy and paste feature was added. The OS also had an improved overall gaming performance. The Gingerbread is SIP support, which is VoIP plus Near Field Communications.
3.0 Honeycomb: The 3.0 Honeycomb is a tablet oriented OS, it had a larger screen devices and it also brought forward many new user interfaces. This version supported multi core processors as well as hardware accelerated graphics. This version was released February 2011. The 3.1 was released in May 2011, the only feature added with this version was it allows the honeycomb devises to transfer content through a UBS Device. The 3.2 was released on July 15, 2011, this release added new capabilities for users as well as for those who like to develop. There was a new capability that allows you to load media files straight from the SD card, another feature was the brand new zoom to fill screens too.
4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich: The Ice Cream Sandwich was announced to the public on October 19, 2011. This version is said to be bringing the Honeycomb OS to the SmartPhone. Some of the features offered on the Ice Cream Sandwich is facial recognition unlocking system. Rather than need a code to unlock your phone, all you need is your face. There are also new data network that uses both monitoring and control, plus joined social network contacts. You will also find photo enhancements as well as offline email searches and information sharing using the NFC, the NFC is Bear Field Communications. This allows the phone be able to process simple transactions as well as data exchanging and even wireless connections between two phones that are in close communication with each other.

- Voice Based Features with Google Search through voice has been available right from the start. With voice actions such as voice calling, texting, and navigation are 100% supported on the Android 2.2 phone and up.
